Presentation at the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy (NYIGT)

I feel honoured to present at the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy (NYIGT) in October 31, 2021. This is the original Gestalt therapy institute established by its founders Laura and Fritz Perls in 1952, and an important teaching and learning community. It is a worldwide membership organisation that addresses the needs of the Gestalt therapy community. I am delighted to be an Associate of the NYIGT and to exchange with this incredibly interesting community on the topics of Gestalt therapy and philosophy so dear to my heart. I will be giving an experiential workshop dedicated to the topic of Influence of Dance on Embodied Self-Awareness and Well-Being: Insights from Dance and Indigenous Embodiment Practices for Gestalt Therapy. This experiential presentation includes insights from an international qualitative research project in psychology and practice interventions. It offers a creative and embodied experience involving indigenous wisdom, dance as an approach for well-being, and creative adjustments to stress, depression, loneliness, and the pandemic. It also raises awareness of dance and movement as the means to the increased presence in the here-and-now, self-expression, sensory experiences, body esteem, and community transformation.
