Coping with Distress: Interventions at the Association for Creativity in Counseling Conference

Writer: Natalia Braun, MScNatalia Braun, MSc

It was fun to present at the conference of the Association for Creativity in Counseling, a Division of the American Counseling Association. This year, the conference is dedicated to the topic Creativity in the Virtual World and Beyond. The program of my session addressed creative adjustment to dancing during the pandemic and offered helpful exercises for coping with distress, which I developed based on our research at the University of Derby. The program provided a creative and embodied experience that involved indigenous wisdom, dance as a wellbeing approach, and countermeasure to stress, depression, anxiety, and loneliness.
